St. Augustine Catholic Church is looking to hire immediately a full-time Director of Religious Education. We require:  A person of Catholic faith who is supportive of Catholic education A person with a pleasant, professional, and welcoming attitude and demeanor            A person who holds, as a minimum, a Bachelor of Arts degree preferably with a            concentration in Theology and holds Archdiocesan certification to teach the Catholic            faith and Archdiocesan certification as a catechetical leader            A person who is flexible enough to handle several tasks simultaneously and willing to accept more responsibility when the need presents itself. Fluency (spoken and written) in both English and Spanish is a big plus for this position. Work Hours: 40 Hour work week with Flexible hours to accommodate teaching schedules and night time meetings. Work responsibilities: Work collaboratively with the parish staff (lay and ordained) and with the staff of St. Augustine Catholic School   Maintain confidentiality   Direct and coordinate a comprehensive education and faith formation program for students – Kindergarten through adult   Direct and coordinate the necessary office staff personnel for the Office of Continuing Christian Education for the parish   Select curricula for the various programs according to archdiocesan guidelines   Recruit volunteer catechists and aides and provide appropriate education and training according to archdiocesan guidelines   In the area of elementary education and faith formation: Oversee the work and ministry of the Assistant to the DRE; Oversee age and grade appropriate programs; Oversee the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children; Oversee the preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. In the area of secondary education and faith formation: Oversee the ministry to our parish’s youth; Oversee age and grade appropriate programs; Oversee the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children; Oversee the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation and the preparation for the celebration of Quince Años. In the area of adult education and faith formation: Assist the parish’s ordained ministers in the Baptismal Preparation Program; Assist the parish’s ordained ministers in the Marriage Preparation Program; Oversee the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults; Coordinate/Teach Adult Sacramental Preparation classes for those preparing their children for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation; Develop and oversee an educational program for the adult faithful of the parish; Assist the Pastor in providing an annual parish mission/retreat in both English and Spanish.
